twostepcub's music chart for December 26, 2014...

Friday is finally here, and it's time to run down my top 100 tunes from the week. This week (officially the start of my "2015 chart year") Sam Smith holds at #1 for a third week, while Scotsman Paolo Nutini (pictured above) leaps into my top 10. Former big hits from Clean Bandit and Blake Shelton drop off my chart, while songs by Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars, Meghan Trainor, and Brett Eldredge make the biggest jumps (moves of 10+ places highlighted in red). The top debut of the week is from a woman who has been on my chart before, but in a different incarnation. Jessie Malakouti, a Californian who under the name of "Jessie and the Toy Boys" put "Push It" and "Let's Get Naughty" on to my list, now with the moniker Eden XO is at #77 with "Too Cool To Dance"...

This past summer Amy Grant had a club hit and made my list with the remix of her #1 hit from 1991 "Baby Baby". She's back at #89 with the rework of that single's follow-up, "Every Heartbeat"...

Country singer Thomas Rhett scores his fifth hit on my chart from his debut album with "Make Me Wanna"...

British indie-rock band Arctic Monkeys are in the running for the top hit of the year on my 2014 countdown with "Do I Wanna Know?", while their follow-up "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High" almost made the top 100 as well. Their third single "R U Mine" now emerges at #93...

The third single and title track from alternative rock group the Head and The Heart's sophomore album, "Let's Be Still", comes in at #95. The first, "Shake", made my top-40 at the end of last year...

Veteran German DJ D.O.N.S. remakes his 2005 cover of the Inner City smash "Big Fun", with Terri B! on vocals, at #97...

American electro-pop and "moombahton" DJ/producer Dillon Francis teams up with Canadian duo Sultan & Ned Shepard and Hawaiian indie-pop artist the Chain Gang of 1974 for "When We were Young" at #98...

Australian singer Josef Salvat debuts at #99 with his cover of Rihanna's "Diamonds"...

The final new entry of the week at #100 is former X Factor UK finalists Union J with their hit "You Got It All"...

I've been counting down my top 100 tunes from 2014 each weekday before New Year's Eve. You can catch up by clicking here....
