French Sweep: February 18, 2014...

I'm ready to cross back over to check out the songs making their first appearance on the top 100 sales chart in France this week, as Pharrell spends a tenth non-consecutive week with "Happy"...

The top debut of the week up at #7 is from French rapper Booba (still, funniest name ever) with "La Mort Leur Va Si Bien" ("Their Death Becomes Her"). It's now his third top-ten hit in this country; he made it to #5 last year with "Parlons Peu"...

U2 return at #11 with their charity single "Invisible". The internationally successful modern rock titans have actually only made the top ten in France four time, with unlikely singles "The Fly" and "Get On Your Boots" going the highest, both to #6...

Parisian rapper Mister You returns at #26 with "Emmene-Moi" ("Takes Me"). It follows his "Pare pour Decoller" which went to #73 a few weeks ago...

French spoken-word collective Fauve' enter with two songs this week. First at #46 is "Infermiere" ("Nurse"). It follows "De Ceux" which went to #43 in December. Their album Vieux Freres comes in at #2 on the albums chart this week...

There's a record named "Happy" by By Line coming in at #49 but I can't seem to find any information on it at all. Maybe a knockoff cover?

The collaboration between producer Danger Mouse with The Shins singer James Mercer under the name Broken Bells arrive at #74 with their first chart entry "Control"...

The second track from Fauve' to enter the chart this week is "Lettre A Zoe" (Letter To Zoe) at #81...

British indie-rock group Breton debut at #84 with their first hit "Envy"..

American swing music legend Glenn Miller comes in at #85 with "Everybody Loves My Baby"...

The current four-week-running #1 single in the UK right now, "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne, makes the chart in this country at #89.

British "big beat" musician and DJ Fatboy Slim sneaks in at #96 with "Eat Sleep Rave Repeat". Back in 1999 he went to #4 in this country with "Praise You"...

German alt-rock act Milky Chance went to #1 in neighboring Switzerland and #2 in Germany with "Stolen Dance", and now it crosses over to this country at #97...

The final entry of the week is by DJ and producer Chuckie, from the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba, who dances in at #99 with "Skydive" featuring Maiday. Chuckie previously made the top-40 in this country with "Let The Bass Kick" which peaked at #22 in 2009...

I'll be back later with the newest in Germany...
