robbed hit of the week 3/4/13 - Aretha Franklin's "Get It Right"...

Aretha Franklin - "Get It Right"
from the album Get It Right (1983)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #61

This week's "robbed hit" is by the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin, who came storming back into the pop top-40 with help from Luther Vandross writing and producing her hit "Jump To It". Hoping to have lightning strike twice, Luther and Marcus Miller wrote the title song for her next album, "Get It Right", and created a funky jam that served as a fine successor to her "comeback"...

While "Get It Right" brought Aretha back to #1 on the R&B chart, in the new-wave-heavy pop radio chart the single peaked down at #61. The song was also a top-10 club single, and was a minor hit in the UK.
