Today's Song of the Day was the second hit for British synthpop duo Naked Eyes, who had a quirky top-10 success with their version of the Bacharach & David classic "Always Something There To Remind Me" in the early summer of 1983.

Their followup is one that I was much more fanatical about at the time, the "busy" production and synth flourishes that grace "Promises Promises"...

"Promises Promises" came frustratingly close to the top-10, spending a week at #11, while also reaching the top-20 on the adult-contemporary chart and top-40 on the dance list.
