Aussie Sweep: October 9, 2014...

I'm ready to head Down Under to check out the songs making the official singles chart in Australia this week, as the Veronicas spend a second week at #1 with "You Ruin Me"...

The highest new entry of the week up at #15 is the brand new single from British boy-band One Direction with "Steal My Girl". It comes from their upcoming album Four, due this fall. It's aiming to become their eighth top-ten single in this country; they have made it as high as #2 with "Live While We're Young" in 2012...

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez teams up with local hero Iggy Azalea for "Booty" at #27. It's the first single from her latest album A.K.A. to make the Aussie chart. She's been to #1 twice here with her debut "If You Had My Love" and "On The Floor" with Pitbull..

The sole entry from the X Factor Australia to make the top-50 this week is from Dean Ray, who repeats his feat from last week with his cover of "Into My Arms" at #36. The original from Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds went to #26 in 1997....

American singer/songwriter Mary Lambert debuts at #39 with "Secrets". She was the featured singer and co-writer of the marriage equality anthem "Same Love" from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis that topped the charts here for weeks...

British/Vincentian singer/songwriter Marlon Roudette enters at #44 with "When The Beat Drops Out". This song, his third top-10 hit in Germany, is his first to make it here in Australia...

British R&B singer/musician Labrinth drops in at #47 with "Let It Be". He's gone top-ten in this country with "Earthquake" with Tinie Tempah and "Beneath Your Beautiful" with Emeli Sande...

The final debut of the week at #48 is the new single from American rapper Kendrick Lamar with "i". He's been to the top-40 on this chart once before, surprisingly not with his own work, but as a featured performer on comic trio This Lonely Island's "YOLO"...
