Album Sweep: October 11, 2014 - Part Three...


Here we go, the third installment of this week's overpacked "album sweep" is up, sampling the records making their debut on the Top 200 Albums sales chart in Billboard magazine. Indie-pop singer/songwriter Mike Hadreas, who records under the moniker Perfume Genius, debuts at #83 with his third album Too Bright. It's his first to make the American chart, though he's had success over in Europe before...

Irish rockabilly artist Imelda May lands at #92 with her fourth full-length effort Tribal. The set is her third #1 album in her home country...


Traditional country singer Lee Ann Womack returns with her seventh studio album The Way I'm Livin', which enters at #99.  Five of her releases (including a greatest hits set) have made the top-40, with There's More Where That Came From peaking at #12 in 2005...


The companion soundtrack to the wildly popular video game Destiny shoots on to the chart at #101. The proof that gaming has taken over the emtertainment world? Paul freaking McCartney is part of the composing staff on this one..


Vermont-based garage-rock band King Tuff reign at #108 with their fifth album Black Moon Spell...


No Bragging Rights, a melodic hardcore act from California, rocks in at #111 with their fifth effort The Concrete Flower. It's also their first on the 'big' chart...


Memphis rapper Snootie Wild enters at #119 with his debut EP Go Mode...


Swedish experimental rock band Goat walk in at #139 with their third release, Commune...


Whirr, a "shoegazer" band from the Bay Area, arrive at #141 with their second full-length effort, Sway...


The box set Apple Years: 1968-1975, an assemblage of the late Beatles guitarists first six solo albums along with a DVD and some unreleased material, comes in at #167. Out of his regular releases, George had two back-to-back #1 albums with All Things Must Pass in 1970 and Living In The Material World in 1973, both of which are included in this collection...


The final new entry of the week at #173 is by the Growlers, a garage rock band from California, with Chinese Fountain. It's their first to make the top 200...
