Songoftheday 11/5/19 - They read you Cinderella you hoped it would come true, that one day your Prince Charming would come rescue you...

"I Can Love You Like That" - All-4-One
from the album And The Music Speaks (1995)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #5 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 28

Today's song of the day comes from the R&B vocal group All-4-One, whose self-titled debut album has scored a top-5 pop hit with a cover of the doo-wop classic "So Much In Love", followed by the 11-week #1 smash hit remake of the country song "I Swear". Probably because of the success of that latter single, the four singers led off their second album And The Music Speaks with another cover of a song made popular by John Michael Montgomery. "I Can Love You Like That", written by Maribeth Derry, Steve Diamond, and Jennifer Kimball, was originally released by Montgomery in 1995 as the first single from his self-titled third album in 1995, and topped the country airplay chart for three weeks...

With the song only just leaving the country charts, the freshly-minted hit was another natural wedding-song classic for the pop group with production done by David Foster...

All-4-One's version of "I Can Love You Like That" became the group's third top-40 pop hit, reaching the top five in August of 1995. The song spent three weeks at #2 on Billboard magazine's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio format chart, as well as going to #40 on their R&B genre chart. Internationally, the single made the top ten in New Zealand (#2) and Canada (#4), while hitting top-40 in Australia (#12), the UK (#33), and the Netherlands (#33).

A second single from the record, "I'm Your Man", was unable to match that success, only making it to #71 on Billboard's R&B chart in America, though it was a top-40 pop hit in New Zealand at #36.
