Songoftheday 3/19/14 - I've been ashamed for so many years I don't know how to cope when you bring out the tears...

Julian Lennon - "Say You're Wrong"
from the album Valotte (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak; #21 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 8

Today's Song of the Day is from Julian Lennon, who through his own talent and unmistakable vocal and visual likeness to his father John, had so far placed two top ten singles on the American pop chart from his debut album with "Too Late For Goodbyes" and the title track "Valotte". For the third single Julian upped the tempo a bit for the lite-rock single "Say You're Wrong", with a MTV-ready music video directed by Tim Pope...

"Say You're Wrong" became Julian's third top-40 pop hit in America in June of 1985, while climbing all the way to #3 on the rock radio chart and #6 on the adult contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart in Billboard magazine. Surprisingly the song only managed to make it to #75 in Lennon's native England, though the song did make the top 40 in Australia.
