Songoftheday 3/24/14 - How can I convince you what you see is real, who am I to blame you for doubting what you feel...
Survivor - "The Search Is Over"
from the album Vital Signs (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #4 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 14
Today's Song of the Day is by the rock band Survivor, whose first full album with new lead singer Jimi Jamison, Vital Signs, had scored them two top-40 hits already with "I Can't Hold Back" and "High On You". For their third release from the record they went with the power-ballad "The Search Is Over", written by bandmembers Frankie Sullivan and Jim Peterik, and produced slickly by Ron Nevison for premium radio action and prom theme play everywhere...
"The Search Is Over" became Survivor's third top-10 pop hit in July of 1985, while nabbed them their first #1 hit on the adult contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart in Billboard magazine, where it stayed for a month.
