Today's Song of the Day is by Tina Turner, whose massive "comeback" album Private Dancer had already generated four top-40 pop hits in America starting with her cover of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together", moving on to her #1 signature song "What's Love Got To Do With It", and then the Fixx-assisted "Better Be Good To Me", followed by the dramatic title track. The fifth single pulled from the album in the U.S., "Show Some Respect", was another sassy slice of mainstream guitar-funk-lite written by Terry Britten (who co-wrote "What's Love...) with Sue Schifrin with Terry producing...
"Show Some Respect" reached the American pop top-40 in June of 1985, while stopping at #50 on the R&B chart in Billboard. The single wasn't released overseas, but did make it to #42 in Canada. It would be the final volley for the classic album, and one of my favorite moments of the record...
