Songoftheday 12/17/13 - It's hard to imagine her with someone else besides myself....

Ray Parker Jr. - "Jamie"
from the album Chartbusters (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #14 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 11

Today's song of the day is by the R&B/pop singer/songwriter/guitarist Ray Parker Jr., who snagged himself a #1 hit in 1984 with the theme to the movie Ghostbusters. Capitalizing on that success, his record company quickly issued a second "hits" collection in two years with Chartbusters, which included that record as well as a two new tracks. "Jamie" was released as the first single, and the adult-soul song put him back on the radio...

Jamie became Ray's fourth and most recent single to make the top-20 on the pop chart in January of 1985. It also was his biggest record on the adult-contemporary (easy-listening) format, peaking at #6, and also reached #12 on the R&B list in Billboard.

Up tomorrow: a deadhead sticker on a Cadillac.
