Songoftheday 12/1/13 - We're the ones with the runaway eyes, we're the ones who can improvise...
Dan Hartman - "We Are The Young"
from the album I Can Dream About You (1984)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #25 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9
Today's song of the day is by the late singer/songwriter/producer Dan Hartman, who had a great 1984 already scoring the biggest hit of his solo career with "I Can Dream About You" from the movie Streets Of Fire. His follow-up to that pop smash was the freestyle/post-disco fusion of "We Are The Young", which brought him back to his solo club roots...
"We Are The Young" became Dan's third top-40 pop hit in the U.S. in December of 1984, while going all the way to #1 on Billboard's dance chart, his third to do so. The song even made an appearance on the R&B chart, peaking at #58 there as well.
