Songoftheday 6/4/18 - Now you want my love well that's alright, well it will be there for you morning noon and night...

"Baby-Baby-Baby" - TLC
from the album Ooooooooh...On The TLC Tip (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #2 (six weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 24

Today's song of the day comes from the R&B/hip-hop trio TLC, whose debut single "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg" became their first top ten pop hit in America in the spring of 1992. Their followup would the slower and smoother "Baby-Baby-Baby". Written by the production team of L.A. Reid, Daryl Simmons, and singer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, it definitely has the cadence and arrangement of one of Babyface's own soul hits, but from a female perspective, with T-Boz taking the lead, and Chilli bringing the bridge and Left-Eye spitting some verse...

"Baby-Baby-Baby" became TLC's second top ten pop hit in August of 1992, spending six weeks in the runner-up position (behind Boyz II Men's "End Of The Road"). The song was their first to top Billboard's R&B chart with two weeks at the summit. Internationally, the single made it to #13 in Canada, but ended up only peaking at #55 in the UK and #95 in Australia.
