Songoftheday 6/2/18 - Sittin' waitin' anticipatin' waiting for your call, tossin' turnin' my heart's burnin' from the things I saw...
"Keep On Walkin'" - CeCe Peniston
from the album Finally (1992)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #15 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 15
Today's song of the day comes from soul/dance singer Ce Ce Peniston, whose debut album Finally had landed her two big pop hits so far with "We Got A Love Thang" and the top 5 title track "Finally". The third release from the record, "Keep On Walkin'", strutted over to the R&B side of her work. Written by producer/remixer Steve "Silk" Hurley with fellow dance music singer Kym Sims along with Marc Williams, it took a new jack swing beat and made it ten times more sassy as CeCe tells a careless lover just where to go...
"Keep On Walkin'" became the third top-40 pop hit from Finally in August of 1992. The song was her biggest hit on Billboard's R&B chart, spending a week at #3, while the remixes of the track helped it ring in Peniston's third #1 Dance Club Play hit out of three tries. Internationally, the single was her third top ten hit in the UK at #10, and reached the top ten in Ireland (#17) and Belgium (#30).
The fourth release from Finally, the ballad "Inside That I Cried", stalled out at #94 on the pop chart, but did very well on urban radio, landing at #10 on Billboard's R&B chart. That was followed by the mid-tempo "Crazy Love", which popped on the Hot 100 at #97 but did manage to climb to #31 R&B (both singles peaked right under the top-40 in the UK).

Up tomorrow: Goth gods go gleeful for the weekend.
