Country Sweep: October 24, 2015...

Part four of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, checking out the songs making their way to the official singles charts in Billboard magazine. This time up it's time to look at country radio...

On their Country Airplay chart, Brett Eldredge scores his fourth consecutive #1 hit with "Lose My Mind"...

I would normally bring out the songs debuting on the chart, but this week there are none (two re-enter the list), so instead I'll cover some of the tracks that came in on my two-month injury-forced vacation...

Luke Bryan's second single from his Kill The Lights album, "Strip It Down", is now all the way at #2 in its tenth week...

Carrie Underwood has the highest single from a female performer with "Smoke Break" at #8...

The first three singles from Jason Aldean's Old Boots, New Dirt album all went to #1, so odds are good the same will come of the fourth, "Gonna Know We Were Here", which is at #14...

Tim McGraw previews his upcoming Damn Country Music with "Top Of The World", which holds at #15 this week...

The fourth hit from Brad Paisley's Moonshine In The Trunk set, "Country Nation", moves up to #23...

Thomas Rhett follows up his #1 hit "Crash And Burn" with the song at #26, "Die A Happy Man"...

One notch under that is Sam Hunt's fourth radio single from his Montevallo debut, "Break Up In A Small Town"...

Sibling trio The Band Perry take a bit of a detour from their traditional country with "Live Forever" which drops a notch to #29...

Another country act that's feelin' their rock selves are the Zac Brown Band, whose "hybrid" rock/country album Jeckyl and Hyde's third country radio hit, "Beautiful Drug", is up to #34...

The fourth single from Rascal Flatts' Rewind album, "I Like The Sound Of That", holds tight at #35...

Not meaning to end on a sour note, but nothing grinds my gears more than a music act that pulls the "farewell tour" then comes back for more. Cher, Kiss, the Eagles, they are all making a mockery of the fans who shell out an insane amount of money to see them only to find them returning with a mulligan (I was duped into Cher, myself). Now George Strait possibly puts his hat into that ring as his "Cowboy Rides Away Tour", which was more hyped than anything in country, now sees him back live in Vegas at the end of next year. Along with a new album. You can call it the same thing, but it ain't, George. Meanwhile, his current single "Cold Beer Conversation" is having a rough go, already dropping to #40 in just its third week on the chart. Maybe radio is retiring you. There's no video, and it's only available at small business killer Walmart. So no clippie, no care...

Another act riding the cash cow of "retiring then not retiring" is Brooks and Dunn, who are also coming to Vegas, while Dunn's "Ain't No Trucks In Texas" is only up at #42 after three months on the chart, so I guess he needs Kix...

I'll wrap things up with the latest dance jams in the clubs and on the radio...
