Brit Sweep: July 6, 2014...
The end of the weekend (and my vacation, sadly) is here, and it's time to check out the songs making the official singles chart in Britain this week. This is the first week that internet streaming on services like Spotify and XBox music (thankfully, for now, they've avoiding the YouTube kerfluffle that has been consistently making Billboard's US non-radio charts a joke), but to be honest, the chart is pretty calm in the transition, with only a few debuts in the top-10 then nothing until the bottom half of the chart...
The new #1 single is the first top-40 hit for American singer and former Nickelodeon Channel teen star Ariana Grande with "Problem" featuring Australian rapper Iggy Azalea. Her first hit "The Way" stopped one notch short at #41 last year...

Aussie singer/songwriter Sia lands her second lead-artist top-ten hit as "Chandelier" enters at #6. She previously hit #10 in 2000 with "Taken For Granted". As a guest on David Guetta's "Titanium" she topped the chart in 2012...
British drum and bass star DJ Fresh returns at #10 with "Make You Bounce" with TC and Little Nikki. Fresh (aka Daniel Stein) has gone to #1 twice in Britain with "Hot Right Now" and "Louder"....
As Ed Sheeran's x album debuted at #1 last week, a bunch of songs from the set made the singles charts, now four more of his do the same. First at #46 is his song from the movie The Fault In Our Stars that only appears on the physical CD deluxe version of the album, "All Of The Stars"...
Meanwhile, a song from the regular version, "Nina", moves in on its own at #57...
The second British single from American rapper Busta Rhymes' E.L.E.2 (Extinction Level Event 2) album, "Calm Down" with Eminem, enters at #63. The first, "Thank You", dropped at #13 last year...
It's back to Sheeran as his "Runaway" moves in at #71...
As Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer have the biggest selling debut album of the week, a track from the set, "Amnesia", is in at #73...
American R&B singer/songwriter Trey Songz returns at #79 with the second single from his upcoming Trigga album. The first, "Na Na", hit #20 in the UK...
The last of the Sheeran tracks to enter the chart is "Take It Back" at #85...
American pop duo MKTO, who were also Nickelodeon stars like Ariana, debut at #95 with "Classic"...
The final debut of the week is a late bloomer to English shores as Norwegian duo Nico & Vinz sneak in at #96 with their worldwide smash "Am I Wrong"...
That's all for tonight. Cheers!
