Songoftheday 6/7/18 - I've been where you are before no one understands it more, you fear every step you take so sure that your heart will break...

"Take This Heart" - Richard Marx
from the album Rush Street (1991)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #20 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 13

Today's song of the day comes from pop singer/songwriter Richard Marx, whose third album Rush Street expanded his sound and earned him two big pop hits already with "Keep Coming Back" and the top ten story-song "Hazard". The third release from the record would be the uptempo pop/rock track "Take This Heart". Written and produced by Marx, the song sported a music video that had the unbelievable premise of the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series. Imagine that...

"Take This Heart" became the third top-20 pop hit from Rush Street in August of 1992. The song climbed all the way to #4 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart as well. Internationally, the single peaked at #4 in Canada, and reached the top-40 in Australia (#11), the UK (#13), and Ireland (#21). The fourth single from Rush Street, the angsty "Chains Around My Heart", just missed the pop top-40 at #44, but went all the way to #9 on the Adult Contemporary list, and #29 on the British singles chart.
