Songoftheday 6/13/17 - Well swingin' on the front porch swingin' on the lawn, swingin' where we want 'cause there ain't nobody home...

"Cherry Pie" - Warrant
from the album Cherry Pie (1990)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #10 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9

Today's song of the day comes from the glam metal band Warrant, whose debut album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich had rewarded them with three top-40 pop hits with "Down Boys", "Sometimes She Cries", and the #2 power-ballad "Heaven". Adding keyboard player Scott Warren (who would later play for Dio) as a fifth member, leader (the late) Jani Lane and the group released their sophomore effort Cherry Pie in 1990. The first single was the stomping rocked out title track, with took the euphemism for a certain lady parts to the extreme. Written by Lane and produced by Beau Hill, the song was banned from many mainstream radio stations for its salacious content, but that drove fans to seek it out even more. Poison guitarist CC Deville gave a solo cameo to the record as well. The video featured model Bobbie Brown, who ended up marrying Lane in 1991...

"Cherry Pie" became Warrant's second top ten pop hit in November of 1990. The single also climbed to #19 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. Internationally, the track went to #6 in Australia, and reached the top-40 in the UK (#35) and New Zealand (#37).
