Songoftheday 7/3/14 - I'm young enough to still see the passionate boy I used to be, but I'm old enough to say I got a good look at the other side...

Billy Joel - "The Night Is Still Young"
from the album Greatest Hits Vols I & II (1985)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #34 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 3

Today's Song of the Day is by singer, songwriter, and "piano man" Billy Joel, who capped off a hugely successful career so far by releasing a double-disc album of his greatest hits that remains one of the biggest-selling records of all time. A new song, "You're Only Human (Second Wind)", was released as the first single, and scored him another top-10 pop hit in the U.S. The follow-up, "The Night Is Still Young", took him again to his dramatic midtempo numbers that described the younger working class of the city and striving to keep love alive while apart perfectly...

"The Night Is Still Young" made the American pop top-40 in November of 1985, while climbing to #13 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary radio chart. It was also a moderate hit in Canada (#48) and a minor one in Australia (#82). But it's aged much better than "You're Only Human" has.
