German Sweep: March 25, 2014...

It's time to cross the border to check out the latest singles to make the official singles chart in Germany this week, as Mr. Probz climbs back to #1 for a second non-consecutive week with "Waves"...

The high entry of the week is from rock band Unheilig, who hail from the western city of Aachen, with "Als wär's das erste Mal" ("As If It Were The First Time"), my "German Pick of the Week". It's one of two new tracks from their greatest hits set to enter the chart this week, this one at #10, becoming their fifth top-10 single...

Australian singer/songwriter Vance Joy (real name James Keogh) debuts at #23 with "Riptide", which seems to be working out to be a worldwide hit....

Kylie Minogue arrives on the chart at #31 with "Into The Blue". It's now her 24th top-40 hit in Germany; nine of those went top-10, and she topped the chart with "I Should Be So Lucky" in 1987 and "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" in 2001...

Linkin Park team up with rapper Rakim at #32 with "Guilty All The Same". This makes the American hard rock band's 21st top-40 single in this country -six of those climbed to the top ten with 2012's "Burn It Down" their best so far at #2...

Eurovision fever is starting to gain momentum as Germany's entry into the song contest, "Is It Right" by indie-folk group Elaiza, makes it onto the chart at #41. The lead singer is Ukranian-born Ela. It beat out Unheilig's "Als wär's das erste Mal" (which I would've preferred)...

German hip-hop/reggae singer Jan Delay from Hamburg drops in at #59 with "Liebe" ("Dear")...

New York DJ duo the Chainsmokers land at #69 with their novelty club hit "#SELFIE"...

The other Unheilig track, "Wir sind alle wie eins" ("We Are All As One"), drops in at #71...

Another German Eurovision contender, MarieMarie, debut at #75 with "Cotton Candy Hurricane"...

 British dance act Gorgon City come in at #78 with "Ready For Your Love" featuring singer MNEK...

American singer/songwriter Christina Perri enters at #79 with "Human". She went to #5 in this country back in 2010 with "Jar Of Hearts"...

Folk-rock duo Milky Chance follow up their #2 hit "Stolen Dance" with "Down By The River" at #83...

Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull dance in at #89 with "I'm A Freak". Iglesias has had seven top-10 hits in Germany with "Hero" the best at #3 in 2001...

The final entry of the week at #98 is the current #2 hit in neighboring France, "Derniere Danse" ("Last Dance") by Indila...
