Album Sweep: March 15, 2014 - Part Two...

Round two of this week's new "Album Sweep" is up, sampling the records making their first appearance on the Top 200 Albums sales chart in Billboard magazine. You can check out part one by clicking here, and as before I've included links to buy anything you see. Support the people bringing the music!

Coming in at #29 is the Irish classical crossover act Celtic Woman with Emerald: Musical Gems. It's the quintet's fifth release to make the top-40 on the main albums chart; they have gotten as high as #4 with 2007's Celtic Woman: A New Journey...

Meanwhile, another act in the "world music" fugue of a category, Korean pop stars 2NE1 land at #61 with Crush, their second full-length album and first to chart in America....

The soundtrack to Son Of God, a distillation of The Bible television miniseries to play in cinemas, ascends to #67...

Jazz/soul musician Brian Culbertson enters at #83 with his fourteenth album Another Long Night Out. It's his second to make the top half of the chart and highest rank as yet....

As Rupaul's Drag Race begins its sixth season, she also comes on the chart (see what I did there?) at #85 with Born Naked. It's her first to make the chart since her debut Supermodel of the World went to #109 in 1993. Yes, she's 53. And fabulous!

The bassist for the jam-band Phish, Mike Gordon, drops in at #104 with his fourth solo album Overstep...

A second Korean pop girl group makes it on the chart this week as Girls Generation are in at #110 with 4th Mini Album 'Mr. Mr'. It's also their first to reach the chart, although the act has been around since 2007...

Alt-dance act Major Lazer return at #137 with the five-song EP Apocalypse Soon. Last year they went to #34 with their second full-length Free The Universe...

Boca Raton-based Americana band Twin Forks, a side-project from Dashboard Confessional singer Chris Carrabba, arrives at #144 with their Twin Forks L.P...

The final debut of the week belongs to California indie-pop collective Run River North at #196 with their self-titled first album...

That's it for the second half of the bunch. Out of these ten the three I would grab for first are the Brian Culbertson, Mike Gordon, and Twin Forks records (though I did grab Ru's album of course)...
