twostepcub's music chart for May 11, 2012....

Hey folks, it's time for my top-100 tunes for the week. This week Gotye and Kimbra spend a ninth week at the top, while Katy Perry (pictured above) hangs on in the top-10. There's nine new songs on my list this week (highlighted in green), and here they are, along with a little about the artists, with links to their previous hits on video in orange.

This week's highest entry is by Voice coach and hotness Adam Levine and Maroon5, who had their biggest hit this past year with "Moves Like Jagger". This time they pair up with "Black and Yellow" rapper Wiz Khalifa on a song they previewed on Adam's show. It debuts way up at #3 on Billboard's pop chart, and it's "Payphone"....

Neo-metal group Linkin Park are back with a song previewing their fifth album, Living Things. The band has scored ten number-one modern-rock hits, including "In The End" and "What I've Done". Their latest rocked in the rock charts at #2, and it's "Burn It Down"...

The trio of DJs Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello, collectively known as the Swedish House Mafia, have had a fruitful last two years, having four consecutive top-10 hits in Britain that also all made the US Dance top-3, including charttoppers "Miami 2 Ibiza" and "Save The World".  Their newest single is getting wide exposure hawking Absolut Vodka on TV, with a video featuring a most futuristic "Greyhound" race...

Next up is a singer from London that had his career resurrected thanks to a Microsoft ad this year. Alex Clare, who had at one time dated Amy Winehouse, was dropped by his label, but after viral response to his song being used in the Internet Explorer ads, now ends up with a #1 song in Germany, a top-5 British hit, and a single gaining momentum in the States with the awesome fusion of blues and dubstep in "Too Close"...

Swedish vocalist Lykke Li has been compared to Bjork, with her naturalistic and ethereal imagery and power-waif voice, and since its release at the beginning of 2011, her single "I Follow Rivers" has retained an underground following, including exposure from being covered on Glee and by Dutchmen Triggerfinger. Now her original has become a big hit in France and Belgium, reaching the top-5...

California rockers the Red Hot Chili Peppers have their third straight top-10 modern rock hit from their latest CD I'm With You (including the #1 "Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie") with the frenetic "Look Around"...

Another Voice mentor debuts this week, but this time its from the British version, whose "Xtina" female seat is held by newcomer singer/songwriter Jessie J, who had one of my favorite songs of last year with "Price Tag". She's still riding high with her first US top-ten hit "Domino", and debuts from a track added to the re-issued version of her debut album, and featuring French DJ David Guetta (giving him four songs on my list this week). Here's "Laserlight"...

Not to be confused with "Ms. J" above, Jessie (Malakouti) & The Toy Boys follow up their top-10 dance hit "Push It" with another top-20 single, the lascivious "Let's Get Naughty"...

The final debut comes from a side project of Swedish rock group Mando Diao, who had a big European hit in 2009 with "Dance With Somebody". The band's singers Bjorn Dixgard and Gustaf Noren formed Caligola, and their single, and more dance-pop oriented "Forgive Forget" has become a big hit in Germany, and is a fave should-be-a-single-in-the-US of mine...

Have a great weekend, folks!
