Dan Fogelberg - "Run For The Roses"
from the album The Innocent Age (1981)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #18 (one week)
weeks in the top-40: 8

Today's song of the day is by the late Dan Fogelberg, who had passed back at the end of 2007. "Run For The Roses" was the fourth top-40 single from Fogelberg's double-album An Innocent Age, which was the most of any album of his. The song commemorates the Kentucky Derby, which is run this weekend (it's the first Saturday in May). The song also made the top-3 on the adult contemporary chart as well.

The song was released just in time for the event, and continues to be played as an unofficial anthem ever since.

Up tomorrow: Tom Selleck's ringtone.
