Today's song of the day comes from the pop/rock band Nelson, led by the twin sons of teen idol Ricky Nelson, Gunnar and Matthew. Their debut album After The Rain had already scored them a trio of pop hits with "More Than Ever", "After The Rain", and the #1 single "(Can't Live Without Your) Love And Affection". The fourth and final release from the album was the power-ballad "Only Time Will Tell", written by the brothers with producer Marc Tanner along with Greg Sutton. It has the singer confronted by an ex who wants to get back together, but doesn't end with a clear resolution...
"Only Time Will Tell" became Nelson's fourth and final top-40 pop hit in the U.S. in August of 1991. The song was also a minor hit in Canada at #81.
Despite the big success of After The Rain, by the time the band recorded their follow-up album, Imaginator, it was rejected by their record company, causing them to do it all over again for a more subdued acoustic record that didn't get much exposure. Released from their contract, they went on to release the earlier recordings on their own, and continue to record and tour. Also, Gunnar appeared on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club "competition" show in 2005. Their most recent album, Peace, Out, came out in 2015.
