Let's cross the Atlantic again to check out the songs and albums reaching the charts in the UK this week...

On the British singles chart, the Chainsmokers and Halsey rack up a third week at #1 with "Closer"...

Lady Gaga rockets into the top 100 at #12 with her brand new single, "Perfect Illusion". She's had four #1 singles in the UK, but none since 2010. Can this one do the trick?

James Arthur, the singer from North Yorkshire that won the ninth series of The X Factor UK, returns at #25 with "Say You Won't Let Go", the first single from his second album Back From The Edge. His debut single "Impossible" hit #1, but he's had a rough go after a stupid homophobic verse on a "dis rap" track sidelined him for a bit...


American alternative rock band of brothers Kings of Leon are back at #54 with "Waste A Moment". It previews their upcoming WALLS (We Are Like Love Songs). In 2008 they topped the singles chart with "Sex On Fire"...


Rapper Post Malone drops in at #63 with "Deja Vu" featuring Justin Bieber. It's his first appearance on the chart in this country, but not the last...(sorry, kids, there's no video yet)..

But Post Malone also shows up at #65 as a featured rapper on Kanye West's "Fade" (also with Ty Dolla $ign)...


Irish indie-pop singer/songwriter enters at #93 with "Nervous".


Meanwhile, on the albums chart in the UK, modern rock act Bastille claim the #1 spot in their first week with their second full-length album Wild World. Their debut Bad Blood also went to the top...


Australian alternative rock icons Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds return at #2 with Skeleton Tree. It's their highest rank on this chart, though they've reached the top ten four times...


The Beatles are back on the British charts as their archival release Live At The Hollywood Bowl jumps in at #3...


Bombastic rock singer Meat Loaf makes a go at #4 with his latest, Braver Than We Are. He's topped the albums chart here twice with Dead Ringer in 1982 and Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell in 1993...


Scottish singer KT Tunstall comes in at #7 with her sixth studio album KIN. It's her fourth set to reach the top ten; both Eye To The Telescope and Drastic Fantastic made it to #3...


Twin Atlantic, an alternative band also from Scotland, lands at #9 with GLA. It's their second top tenner...


 There's a trio of Scottish entries at Bellhill's own Teenage Fanclub move in at #10 with Here. Back in 1997 they peaked at #3 with Songs From Northern Britain...


Alternative rock icon Jack White is in at #12 with a collection of his Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016, which spans his career from work in the White Stripes to the Raconteurs to his solo work...


Veteran indie-rockers Wilco are back at #25 with Schmilco, which is the highest they've reached in this country...


Canadian metal artist Devin Townsend takes his Project's Transcendence album to #26...


Power-pop band All Time Low slips in at #40 with their live release Straight To DVD 2: Past, Present & Future. Their last studio record, Future Hearts, topped the albums chart last year...
