Aussie Sweep: September 8, 2016...


Let's head Down Under to check out the songs and albums from local artists making their way on to the charts in Australia this week, according to their official charts...

On the Australian Artists Singles chart, rapper Illy and singer Vera Blue hold steady at #1 with "Papercuts"...

Melbourne native and singer Stan Walker, who won Australian Idol in 2009 and has been a judge on that country's version of The X Factor, comes in at #13 with "You Never Know" (unfortunately, it's not available on video here in the States)...

Kasey Chambers, an indie-country musician from the South Australian city of Mount Gambier, drops in at #12 with her Ain't No Little Girl EP. She topped the main singles chart back in 2002 with "Not Pretty Enough"...

Sydney-based synthpop duo Empire Of The Sun,  who finally got American exposure this year with the ad-fueled rerelease of their "Walking On A Dream" classic, return with two track on to this chart this week. First at #13 is the title track to their upcoming October release Two Vines...


...and the current radio single "High and Low" arrives at #17...


Another artist from Sydney, newcomer Starley, enters at #18 with "Call On Me"...


Meanwhile, on the local artists Album Chart, country singer Troy Cassar-Daley, from the Sydney suburbs, rockets in at #1 with Things I Carry Around...


Alternative metal band Twelve Foot Ninja, from Melbourne, stomp in at #2 with their second album Outlier...


Ol' 55, a veteran rock band from the Sydney area, who may have broken up in 1986, prove their longevity as the collection Time To Rock & Roll: The Anthology comes in at #9. (Think of a trippy Aussie Sha Na Na...)


One notch under that at #10 is the dance-rock act from Melbourne, Delta Riggs, with Active Galactic...
