Pop Sweep: July 18, 2015...
It's time to kick off the first of today's five "music sweeps", checking out the songs making their debut on the various singles charts in Billboard magazine. As always, I'll start out on the "pop" side of things, then move on to the latest on rock, R&B, country, and dance music. And away we gooooo...
On the "big" chart, Billboard's Hot 100, which combines tallies of radio airplay from all formats, sales (like iTunes and AmazonMP3), and internet streaming (like Spotify, Tidal, and YouTube), Wiz Khalifa ties the record for longest stay at #1 at twelve weeks for a rap record with "See You Again" featuring Charlie Puth. If it hangs on one more week it will pass both Eminem's "Lose Yourself" and the Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow"...
Racing in at #34 as the highest new entry is rapper Fetty Wap with "679" featuring Remy Boyz. His debut single "Trap Queen" is still up at #5 after peaking at #2. It's one of two debuts from Fetty this week...

Also landing in the top-40 in its first week is "Cool For The Summer" from Demi Lovato, which enters at #36. It automatically becomes her ninth top-40 hit; her first, "This Is Me" with Joe Jonas, topped out at #9 in 2008...
Philly rapper Meek Mill, who has the biggest-selling album of the week with Dreams Worth More Than Money, sees two more of the tracks enter the chart this week as radio single "All Eyes On You" leaps to #32 in its second week. First, "R.I.C.O." featuring Drake comes in at #57...
The sixth track from Big Sean's # 1 album Dark Sky Paradise album to make the Hot 100 is "Play No Games" featuring Chris Brown and Ty Dolla $ign whic is in at #84. Lead-off single "I Don't F*ck With You" peaked at #11 last year...
Newcomer Pia Mia, from the Pacific Ocean American territory of Guam,makes her debut at #86 with "Do It Again" with Chris Brown and Tyga....
The other of Meek Mills' newbies at #96 is "Bad For You" featuring Nicki Minaj (who Meek is dating currently)...
The second Fetty Wap track entering at #98 is "My Way", which already has made the top-10 on the R&B/Hip Hop airplay list...
Rounding it out at #100 is Christian rock band NEEDTOBREATHE with "Brother" featuring singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw. It's their first to make the "big" chart...
And now on to the pop radio format charts...
On the Mainstream Top-40 radio panel, Taylor Swift is on top for a third week with "Bad Blood", while the aforementioned "Cool For The Summer" from Demi Lovato leaps in at #22...
The singer/producer behind "See You Again" (which is at #4 here), Charlie Puth, moves in at #37 with "Marvin Gaye" featuring Meghan Trainor. Puth hails originally from Rumson, New Jersey...
Pop teen-idol duo MKTO nab their third hit on this chart with "Bad Girls" at #39. Their last, "Classic", peaked at #8 on this format...
Dutch pop/dance singer Natalie La Rose follows up her #3 hit "Somebody" with the song at #40, "Around The World" featuring Fetty Wap...
Meanwhile, on the older-skewing Adult Top-40 format, Walk The Moon are at #1 for an eighth non-consecutive week with "Shut Up And Dance"...
Like "Shut Up And Dance", newbies X Ambassadors' entry "Renegades" at #35 is also a #1 rock hit...
The fourth single from Meghan Trainor's debut album Title, "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" with John Legend, arrives at #39. The third, "Dear Future Husband", is still on the chart at #30 down from a peak of #13...
Lastly, on the Adult Contemporary, or "easy listening", radio chart, Taylor Swift's "Style" is on top for a second week...
Singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson enters at #26 with "Time Machine", my "Pop Pick of the Week". Her last to make this chart, "Girls Chase Boys", so far is her best at #13. The video features Donald Faison from Scrubs in a bathtub, and bearish Rob Delaney of Catastrophe in hot shorts. What else do you need?
