Rock Sweep: May 3, 2014...

Round two of this week's "chart sweeps" is up, and this time I've got the latest songs on Billboard magazine's rock radio charts...

On the main Rock Airplay chart, the Arctic Monkeys stay firm at #1 with "Do I Wanna Know?" for a tenth week...

The sole debut on the chart at #49 is suburban Chicago-based garage punk band the Orwells with "Who Needs You". The song has been on the Alternative chart for two months, where it moves up to #26...

..and onwards to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Chevelle spends a second week on top with "Take Out The Gunman"...

Heavy metal "supergroup" HellYeah preview their upcoming fourth album Blood For Blood with "Sangre Por Sangre (Blood For Blood)" at #36. The group, which includes members of Pantera, Mudvayne, and Nothingplan, has had three top-ten hits here, with both "You Wouldn't Know" and "Hell Of A Time" both reaching #5...

And making their debut at #39 is Swedish "melodic death metal" act Avatar with their first American hit, "Bloody Angel"...

Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart,  Fitz & The Tantrums score their second consecutive #1 hit with "The Walker"...

Jumping in at #34 is modern rock band Panic At The Disco with the follow-up to their top ten hit "Miss Jackson" with "This Is Gospel"...

And at #39 is Foster The People, who's lead-off single "Coming Of Age" didn't do as well as I'd have forecasted here, peaking at #4 and already down to #20 on its 14th week. They're back with "Best Friend", this week's "Rock Pick Of the Week"...

Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, the Black Keys enjoy a second week on top with "Fever"...

The singular debut at #25 is a former "Pop Pick of the Week", the divine "Stay With Me" by British 'blue-eyed' soul singer Sam Smith...

I'll be back in an hour and a half with the newest R&B songs on the radio....Rock on!
