French Sweep: April 15, 2014...

Bonjour, mes amis, it's time yet again to cross the Atlantic to check out the songs reaching the top 100 of the official sales chart in France, as Pharrell Williams spends an eighteenth non-consecutive week at #1 with "Happy"...

The top debut of the week doesn't appear until #54, and it's from Dutch DJ Deorro with "Five Hours", his second chart hit and highest position yet...

Rap collective L'entourage arrive at #58 with their first hit "Jim Morrison"...

Another rapper making his debut is Joke at #61 with "Majeur En L'Air" ("major in the air")...

Christophe, a pop singer from the Parisian suburb of Juvisy-sur-Orge, returns at #80 with "Les Mots Bleus" ("The Blue Words"). Back in 1985 he went to #15 with "Ne Raccroche Pas"...

R&B singer Matt Houston, from the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, comes in at #91 with "Twist 2K14", my "French Pick of the Week",  with DJ Assad and featuring Dylan Rinnez. Matt's made the top-10 in this country three times, with "R&B 2 Due" reaching #4 in 2001...

Rapper Black M had a bunch a new entries last week, and as his album comes in at #2, two more tracks make their way in. First at #92 is "Je Ne Dirai Rien" ("I Say Nothing")...

Nancy Sinatra brings her oldie "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot My Heart)" in at #97. It's her first in the top 100 in this country, no doubt helped by David Guetta's remake of the song...

The other Black M song to enter the chart this week is "C'est Tout Moi" ("That's Me") at #98...

The final entry of the week is from German act Milky Chance, who already is at #2 with "Stolen Dance", and now is in at #100 with "Fairytale"...

I'll return later with the latest in Germany....
