Rock Sweep: September 28, 2013...
It's time for part two of today's 'chart sweeps' sampling the records making their debut on this week's singles charts in Billboard magazine, and now I'm up to the latest on rock radio.
On the aggregate Rock Airplay chart, Lorde reigns for a fifth week with "Royals"...
The top entry of the week and my "Rock Pick of the Week" belongs to Canadian indie-rock heroes Arcade Fire, with the first single and title track from their upcoming fourth album, "Reflektor" at #25, featuring David Bowie on backup vocals. The band previously went to the same rank with "Ready To Start" in 2010...

The Arctic Monkeys enter at #40 with "Do I Wanna Know?". It also moves up to #39 on the alternative rock list...
Danish heavy metal band Volbeat arrives at #43 with "Lola Montez". It's already at #18 on the Active Rock panel and #21 on the Mainstream Rock chart. Their highest here so far is "A Warrior's Call", which topped out at #11 two years ago...
indie-rockers Alt-J return at #48 with "Tessellate", as it rises to #32 on the modern rock format...
The final debut on the big rock chart at #49 is hard rock outfit Devour The Day with "Good Man", which jumps up to #14 on the Mainstream Rock panel...
...and now onward to the rock radio format charts...
On the Mainstream Rock radio panel, Avenged Sevenfold hang in for a sixth week on top with "Hail To The King"...
The top debut here at #33 is South African hard rock band Seether with a song also titled "Seether", from their upcoming greatest hits album. It's a cover of the song by Veruca Salt, which went to #8 on the Modern Rock chart in 1994. The boys have topped this chart four times, with "Remedy", "Fake It", "Country Song", and "Tonight"...
The other entry at #34 are Five Finger Death Punch with "Battle Born", the single from part 2 of their The Wrong Side Of Heaven and the Righteous Side Of Hell opus. Part 1's single, "Lift Me Up", topped the chart earlier this year...
Meanwhile, on the Modern Rock/Alternative chart, "Royals" dominates for a sixth week...
The top entry at #24 is Coldplay with their Hunger Games: Chasing Fire contribution, "Atlas" (last week's "rock pick"). They've topped this format with "Viva La Vida" and "Paradise"...
The aforementioned "Reflektor" by Arcade Fire zips in at #28. It's their fourth to make this chart - they went to #16 with "Ready To Start"...
Over on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") format, Lorde lords over the chart for a fifth week, while Coldplay's "Atlas" leaps in at #17...
The other debut at #27 is pop/rock outfit OneRepublic with "Counting Stars"...
At the harder-edged Active Rock radio panel, "Hail To The King" is at #1 for a sixth week, while the aforementioned Seether and Five Finger Death Punch tracks come in at #30 and #31 respectively...
Also arriving at #39 is Kansas City post-grunge band Red Line Chemistry with "Sucker Punch"...
Fellow Midwesterners Emphatic from Omaha arrive at #40 with "Remember Me"...
Lastly, on the older-skewing Heritage Rock format, Avenged Sevenfold hang in for a fourth week with "Hail To The King", while the Devour The Day's "Good Man" is in at #22 and Seether's cover of "Seether" a notch below at #23...
That's it for this rock show, I'll be back in an hour and a half with the latest R&B jams on the radio. Rock on!
