Brit Sweep: September 23, 2013...

Hey gang - I'm a little late to the game, but it's time to catch up to see what songs made the official sales chart in Britain this week...

The top-selling single of the week belongs to American R&B/pop singer Jason Derulo, who nabs his third #1 hit with "Talk Dirty" featuring rapper 2 Chainz. Jason previously topped the list with "In My Head" and "Don't Wanna Go Home"...

As singer Jessie J leaves her stint on the British version of The Voice (to be filled by Kylie Minogue), she enters the chart at #3 with the second single from her second album Alive (which arrives in the UK today), "It's My Party". It follows "Wild", which came in at #5...

The third debut on the chart at #5 is Swedish DJ/producer Avicii, who succeeds his #1 hit "Wake Me Up!" (which is a rung below at #6) with "You Make Me"...

English singer Birdy arrives at #16 with the first single from her upcoming sophomore album Fire Within, "Wings". Her self-titled first produced two top-40 hits with "Skinny Love" reaching #17...

As Katy Perry's "Roar" drops from the top spot to #2, her next track from her upcoming Prism set, "Dark Horse" featuring Juicy J, comes in at #21...

Neo-hard rock band Linkin Park return at #34 with a collaboration with DJ Steve Aoki on "A Light That Never Comes". It's from their upcoming remix album Recharged. They have reached the top-10 in this country four times, with "In The End", "What I've Done", "Somewhere I Belong" and "Pts. OF Athrty" (from their first remix set)...

Scottish synthpop band Chvches score their first top-40 hit as "The Mother We Share" enters at #38. It's my "Brit Pick of the Week"...

American R&B producer Brandon Green, who had been releasing his own records under the alias Bei Major, now switches it up under the moniker Maejor Ali at #56 with "Lolly". It features rapper Juicy J and Justin Bieber, the latter whom he had produced two tracks earlier for. Lord, this is the biggest piece of shit record I've heard in a long while, and that's sayin' somethin'...

A second track from Avicii, the folk-music throwdown "Hey Brother" featuring Dan Tyminski from Union Station, dances in at #58....

Naya Rivera, who plays Santana on the TV show Glee, claims her first non-show hit at #73 with "Sorry" featuring rapper Big Sean...

One of the biggest successes from the American Idol franchise without having won, Daughtry, named for leader Chris, sneaks in at #80 with the first single from their upcoming fourth album Baptized, "Waiting For Superman". It's only their second appearance on the top-100 in this country; in 2008 they went to #11 with "What About Now"...

Norwegian comedic duo Ylvis drop their novelty EDM track "The Fox" on the sales charts here at #88....

After Justin Timberlake's first track from his upcoming 20/20 Experience 2, "Take Back The Night", topped out at #24, he comes in at #89 with the second, "TKO"...

Katie Melua's upcoming album, Ketevan, is named for the Georgian-born (as in Russia) singer's true first name, and the first single from it, "I Will Be There", is the final new entry on the chart at #99. She's had two top-10 singles in the UK, with "Nine Million Bicycles" going to #5 in 2005...

That's it for this week...thanks for being patient, and I'll be back with part 2 of this week's "Album Sweep"...
