Roland Burris, if anything, is a stupefyingly immodest bureaucrat. Whatever qualifications he may have to hold a Senate seat, of course after the gauntlet was thrown down that any nominee of not-yet-indicted Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich would be rejected, Burris must have big brass balls to think that this appointment would just go down easy. It looks like he decided to take advantage of a dirty promotion that no one else would touch. Nonetheless, the Democratic party is proving again how inept they are in the actual execution of politics (running, not governing) in that they're falling right into F-Rod's trap of race-baiting and come-uppance. I don't believe any qualifications matter except Reid's perception of an appointee's electability (read-milquetoastness). But jeez, you're making a spectacle of this, while you guys idiotically applauded Ted Stevens on leaving the Senate after he was convicted. Unless you can directly find a criminal reason to block him, you just shut the fuck up and admit you got played. Since the Illinois legislature wasn't man enough to impeach him or go to a special election right off, you lost your chance. Deal. It's another Democratic seat, you shithead. Jesus, how is Reid still in charge in the Senate? How?
