Songoftheday 9/7/16 - Quit the job the grey believers another town where I get close to the bone...

"Dressed For Success" - Roxette
from the album Look Sharp! (1988)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #14 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9

Today's song of the day comes from the Swedish pop duo Roxette, who broke through on American radio with their #1 pop hit "The Look" in the spring of 1989. They followed that success up in the states with the upbeat dance-rock crunch of "Dressed For Success", written by the pair's Per Gessle and mostly sung by partner Marie Fredriksson...

"Dressed For Success" became Roxette's second top-40 pop hit in America in July of 1989. Internationally, the record went to #2 in their native Sweden, top ten in Australia (#3), Switzerland (#4), Australia (#6), and Canada (#10), and #16 in Germany, while it missed the top-40 in the UK at #48.
