Songoftheday 9/4/16 - They say that to really free your body, you've got to free your mind...
"Lay Your Hands On Me" - Bon Jovi
from the album New Jersey (1988)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #7 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 11
Today's song of the day comes from New Jersey rockers Bon Jovi, whose album named after their home state had already scored two #1 pop hits with "Bad Medicine" and "I'll Be There For You" as well as the top-3 "Born To Be My Baby". The fourth single from the record was the fist-pumping concert fave "Lay Your Hands On Me". Written by lead singer Jon Bon Jovi and guitarist Richie Sambora, the guitar-driven track checked all the testosterone-filled boxes in a hard rock single...
"Lay Your Hands On Me" became the fourth top ten pop hit from New Jersey in July of 1989. The song also climbed to #20 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio tracks chart. Internationally, the record made it to #8 in Ireland, top-20 in Canada (#17), Switzerland (#16), and the UK (#18), and #23 in Australia.
