"Wot's It To Ya" - Robbie Nevil
from the album Robbie Nevil (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #10 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9

Today's SOTD comes from the 'blue-eyed' (read white) soul singer Robbie Nevil, whose self-titled debut album had already scored a pair of big pop hits in the U.S. with the #2 "C'est La Vie" and follow-up "Dominoes". The third single from the set was the pop-reggae stylings of "Wot's It To Ya", written by Robbie with Brock Walsh...

"Wot's It To Ya" became Robbie's second (and so far last) top-10 pop hit in America in August of 1987. The remixed version (edited down for the radio release) also hit #10 on the dance chart, and crossed over to Billboard's R&B chart at #69. Across the pond, the single just missed the top-40 at #43.

Up tomorrow: a teen prodigy writes, sings, and produces her own sleepytime top-5 pop hit.
