Robbed Hit of the Week 7/6/15 - Gino Vannelli's "Wild Horses"...

"Wild Horses" - Gino Vannelli
from the album Big Dreamers Never Sleep (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #55

This week's "robbed hit" comes from Canadian pop singer/songwriter Gino Vannelli, who went from being a soft-rock star in the late 70s/early 80s with songs like "Living Inside Myself" and "I Just Wanna Stop" to dabbling in new wave on another "robbed hit" from 1985, "Black Cars". Two years later, Gino released the more adult-pop of Big Dreamers Never Sleep, with the western-ish sound of "Wild Horses" that seemed to fit in the vibe of the music of Bruce Hornsby and Cock Robin...

While "Wild Horses" reached the top-10 on the pop chart in his native Canada, the single stopped short at #55 on the American Hot 100, though it did climb to #33 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy-listening") radio chart, where he would place one more minor hit in 1991 with "If I Should Lose This Love" (#49).
