Robbed hit of the week 2/2/15 - Sheena Easton's "So Far, So Good"...

"So Far, So Good" - Sheena Easton
from the album About Last Night... (Original Soundtrack) (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #43

This week's 'robbed hit' comes from Scottish pop singer Sheena Easton, whom we last saw with her Madonna-esque turn on "Do It For Love" in 1985. After another album featuring a failed single with Prince didn't get an American release because of label squabbles, Sheena contributed two songs to the "Rat Pack" movie About Last Night... starring Rob Lowe and Demi Moore. One of the two tracks, the jubilant "So Far So Good" (written by Tom Snow and Cynthia Weil), was put out as the lead single from the set, and it immediately became a fave of mine. The video had a plot that tied into the movie making Sheena the editor, along with a love interest of her own (this has the David Lee Roth commercial first)....

While "So Far So Good" reached the top-40 on both the adult contemporary (#35) and dance club play (#32) charts in Billboard, it stopped short of the top-40 pop list in September of 1986. However, it remains one of my favorite songs of hers, and has the honor of me buying the album in vinyl, cassette, and CD...

Possibly my favorite non-Prince Sheena song. Couldn't get enough of this song.
