Today's Song of the Day comes from pop/soul star Lionel Richie, whose followup to his 10 million plus-selling album Can't Slow Down, Dancing On The Ceiling, had spun off a #1 hit with "Say You, Say Me", and almost repeated with the #2 title track. For the third single, he delved into the "easy listening" selection from the set, "Love Will Conquer All". Written by the artist with Greg Phillinganes and Cynthia Weil, the palatable midtempo tune isn't his most distinctive song, but it's one that doesn't make you want to turn the station...

"Love Will Conquer All" became the third top-10 pop hit from Dancing On The Ceiling in November of 1986. The track did even better (naturally) on the Adult Contemporary chart, topping that list for two weeks, as well as the R&B chart, where it peaked at #2. Internationally, while the single was a top-40 hit in New Zealand, it stalled below the top-40 in England at #45.
