Twostepcub's Biggest Hits of 2024: Part 9 - #20 to #11...
We're closing up on the end of my (late) year-end countdown of the biggest songs on my weekly personal music chart for 2024. You can catch up with the rest of the series by clicking here. Let's go...
#20 - Feather - Sabrina Carpenter
from the album Emails I Can't Send Fwd (Deluxe Edition) (2023)
2scchart peak: #13 (two weeks)
Weeks on the chart: 35
Points: 2011
Just like she ended the year in the tabloids with her relationship with Barry Keoghan, Carpenter began 2024 by making waves by "desecrating" a church (which coincidentally led to the investigations to New York City Mayor Eric Adams).

#19 - Greedy - Tate McRae
from the album Think Later (2023)
2scchart peak: #5 (two weeks)
Weeks on the chart (in 2024): 28 (was on the chart for 9 weeks in 2023)
Points: 2039
Tate and Sabrina were neck and neck in the battle of the pop tarts at the start of 2024, but while this slinky number was lucky in a really soft time on the charts, it was Sabrina that would eventually win out with charisma (and better material).
#18 - Made For Me - Muni Long
from the album Revenge (2024)
2scchart peak: #10 (one week)
Weeks on the chart (in 2024): 31 (was on the chart for 3 weeks in 2023)
Points: 2039
The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter returned to the top-20 on Billboard's Hot 100 with his classy love ballad that had its tagline ("twin where have you been") become a TikTok meme.
#17 - Lovin' On Me - Jack Harlow
from the single (2023)
2scchart peak: #10 (one week)
Weeks on the chart (in 2024): 33 (was on the chart for two weeks in 2023)
Points: 2153
Yeah there's been comparisons to being this generation's Kid Rock, but give Jack some slack, he's done much more for his homestate of Kentucky than that cultist freakshow did for Michigan. And hell, this is fun in its bro-deprecating way.
#16 - Million Dollar Baby - Tommy Richman
from the single (2024)
2scchart peak: #2 (one week)
Weeks on the chart: 26
Points: 2191
My pick for the best groove of the year came from this newcomer from Virginia that rode the TikTok train with this total cruising-ready vibe. For me, unlike others, it never got old, and it's maddening that neither this nor his followup "Devil Is A Lie" appeared on his debut album which ended up stiffing and probably making him a one and a half hit wonder.
#15 - Birds Of A Feather - Billie Eilish
from the album Hit Me Hard and Soft (2024)
2scchart peak: #2 (eight weeks)
Weeks on the chart (in 2024): 25 (still charting)
Points: 2198
Although she led off her third full-length album with the lasciviously lesbian love lore of "Lunch", Billie's fans almost immediately flocked to this lush track that will possibly give her yet another Grammy Awards. The modulation on the word "shit" in "you're so full of shit" is chef's kiss.
#14 - World On Fire - Nate Smith
from the album Nate Smith (2023)
2scchart peak: #7 (one week)
Weeks on the chart (in 2024): 39 (was on the chart for four weeks in 2023)
Points: 2216
The big-voiced belter turned up the heat with this minor-key missive about a love that may or may not be dangerous.
#13 - Landmines - Sum-41
from the album Heaven :x: Hell (2024)
2scchart peak: #22 (two weeks)
Weeks on the chart: 41
Points: 2248
Last year at times seemed like a class reunion from the late 1990s, with Green Day, blink-182, Pearl Jam, The Offspring, Foo Fighters, and this Canadian pop-punk band that was one of the more shocking returns with this song that rock radio just would not let go of.
#12 - Austin - Dasha
from the album What Happens Now? (2024)
2scchart peak: #6 (three weeks)
Weeks on the chart: 31
Points: 2371
After trying to break in the pop tart market, Dasha finally got her break with this TikTok-approved breakup jam that sounded more country than half the crap on that genre's stations. And she had a huge hit in the United Kingdom in the process.
#11 - Save Me - Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson
from the album Whitsitt Chapel (2023)
2scchart peak: #5 (one week)
Weeks on the chart (in 2024): 34 (was on the chart for seven weeks in 2023)
Points: 2405
The rotund country-rock former-rapper rebel took an older track and paired up with today's token woman on country radio, Lainey Wilson, for a stripped down and much better version, with Lainey's vocals countering Jelly Roll's quite well.
OK, so only ten more songs to go, and we'll wrap things up with a A-lister fatalistic meeting, a rap one-off from the 2000s gets a country makeover, our coffee-infused princess, and the winner of the big and tall department store belters.
