Today's song of the day comes from Cuban-American pop singer/songwriter Gloria Estefan, whose return to the spotlight after her life-threatening bus accident, "Coming Out of The Dark", had gone all the way to #1 on the American pop chart in the spring of 1991. However, subsequent singles were having a harder time on mainstream radio, with follow-up "Seal Our Fate" peaking down at #53, and third release "Can't Forget You" almost reaching the top-40 at #43 that August. Also, track "Remember Me With Love" reached the top 40 in the UK and Ireland both at #22, while "Nayib's Song (I Am Here For You)" was a minor hit in the Netherlands at #70.
The fourth single put out in the U.S would be the album's most enjoyable highlight, the Caribbean-tinged "soft dance-pop" of "Live For Loving You". Given a fresher remix than the one found on the Into The Light album, the song, written by Gloria, her husband Emilio, and "song doctor" Diane Warren, put her back in good terms with pop radio and even VH1 with this fun video, which includes her Emilio, her son, and her dog...
"Live For Loving You" returned Gloria to the American Top-40 in December of 1991. The single also spent two weeks at #2 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart. Internationally, the song reached the top-40 in Canada (#32) and the UK (#33), and was a minor hit in Holland at #54.
