Songoftheday 9/3/17 - When you look inside yourself you will discover, you'll learn to appreciate the only one who truly cares for you...
"I'll Be By Your Side" - Stevie B
from the album Love & Emotion (1990)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #12 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 9
Today's song of the day is from Stevie B, who was the biggest male star (and probably biggest overall) in the Latin freestyle genre of dance music in the late 1980's. His first album of the new decade, Love & Emotion, had already landed him two big hits with the top-20 title track and the love ballad "Because I Love You (The Postman Song)", which ended up the biggest pop hit of 1990 with a month at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100. The third release from the record was another slow-dance number, "I'll Be By Your Side". Ready-made for wedding receptions all over the Bronx (and elsewhere), the track continued his radio success...
"I'll Be By Your Side" became Stevie's third top-20 pop hit from the Love & Emotion album in March of 1991. The single also climbed to #16 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") radio chart. Internationally, the song went to #38 in Canada.
