Today's song of the day comes from the hard rock band from Boston, Aerosmith, whose third post-juvenation album Pump had spun off a trio of top ten pop hits with "Love In An Elevator", "Janie's Got A Gun", and "What It Takes". (Another album track, "Monkey On My Back", was promoted on rock radio and peaked at #17 on Billboard's chart after "What It Takes".) The fourth physical single released from the record was "The Other Side", written by lead singer Steven Tyler with Bryan Adams' collaborator Jim Vallance. Produced by Bruce Fairbairn, the song is graced by a prominent horn section...
"The Other Side" became the fourth top-40 pop hit from Pump in August of 1990. The track also made it all the way to #1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart, the third from the album after "Love" and "What" ("Janie's" got to #2 there). Internationally, the song matched its American success in Canada (#22), while just missing the top 40 in the UK (#46). The video also won MTV's "Moonman" for best rock video at their music video awards.
