Songoftheday 7/3/16 - Yesterday I saw my love light shine, straight ahead in front of me...
"Feels So Good" - Van Halen
from the album OU812 (1988)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #35 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 3
Today's song of the day comes from hard rock titans Van Halen, whose second album after the departure of original lead singer David Lee Roth, OU812, had already scored them a trio of top-40 hits with "Black and Blue", the #5 "When It's Love", and "Finish What Ya Started". The fourth pop radio release from the set was the synth-driven "Feels So Good", with Sammy Hagar's rough and tumble scream floating above a set of moog chords that sounded close to a prog-rock nugget from the late 70s...
"Feels So Good" became the fourth top-40 pop hit from OU812 in March of 1989. The single also climbed all the way to #6 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock radio chart. It was also a minor hit in the UK at #63.
Up tomorrow: Bassist gets his day in the sun, God allowing.
