Rock Sweep: August 8, 2015...


Round two of this week's "music sweeps" is up, checking out the latest songs to hit the charts in Billboard magazine. This time I've got the latest on rock radio...

On their main Rock Airplay chart X Ambassadors remain on top for a sixth week with "Renegades"...

Breaking Benjamin come in at #43 with "Angels Fall". It's the follow-up to "Failure", which spent weeks on top of the Mainstream Rock survey and made it to #6 on this chart (it stands at #13 this week). Their new one also moves up to #17 on that latter list...

Australian indie-rock act Atlas Genius returns at #47 with "Molecules", which climbs to #24 on the Alternative chart...


and now on to the rock radio format charts...

On the Mainstream Rock radio panel there's a fourth #1 hit in as many weeks at Shinedown jump to the top with "Cut The Cord", becoming their ninth to reach the summit...

Hard rock "supergroup" We Are Harlot take their second trip on the chart at #35 with "Someday". It follows "Dancing On Nails", which peaked at #14...


The #1 Triple-A rock hit in the country, Beck's "Dreams", crosses over to this harder-edged list at #39...


Meanwhile, on the Alternative/Modern Rock chart, "Renegades" holds on top for a seventh week...

Singer/songwriter Halsey comes in at #34 with "New Americana"...


British modern rock titans Muse follow up their #1 hit "Dead Inside", which falls out of the top ten this week, with "Mercy" at #39...


George Ezra slips in at #40 with "Blame It On Me", which made the top-3 on the Triple-A list...


Lastly, on the Triple-A (adult album alternative, or "hipster rock") chart,  Beck's "Dreams" stays at #1 for a fifth week...

Indie-folk-rock heroes Wilco enters at #27 with "Random Name Generator", from their just-released album Star Wars. The band had topped the chart back in 2009 with "You Never Know"...


Beirut blasts in at #28 with "No No No", my "Rock Pick of the Week"...
