Robbed hit of the week 8/10/15 - Kim Wilde's "Say You Really Want Me"...

"Say You Really Want Me" - Kim Wilde
from the album Another Step (1986) and Running Scared (Original Soundtrack) (1986)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #44

This week's "robbed hit" is from British new-wave singer Kim Wilde, who took a HI-NRG detour to Motown to score a #1 hit in America with her cover of the Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On" in 1987. While in Britain her next single was the title track duet with UK soul singer Junior (of "Mama Used To Say" fame), in the U.S. we got as a follow-up a slinky dance track used in the cop buddy movie Running Scared, "Say You Really Want Me", co-written by Danny Sembello ("Maniac" Michael's brother)...

While "Say You Really Want Me" reached the top-40 on Billboard's Dance Club Play chart at #32, it just missed the pop top-40 in August of 1987. In her native UK the track peaked at #29.
