anything new happen lately?
It seems so odd that the times where there's so much to talk about, my mind draws a blank trying to blog. Maybe it's my obsession with following the news (and other greater bloggers than myself) that sometimes my brain goes into overload.
The astonishing course of events in Iran are escalating day by day, with a sense of urgency not seen since the Tienamen Square protests in China. However, it does seem like the growing numbers throughout the country will not simply be stopped by a police force that is already disheveled.
While this is happening, the Obama administration has been scrambling to tackle health care with a mixed message, where between people like Sec. Sebelius hinting at a public option, while porked shills like Tom Daschle are pressing for nothing of the sort (thank GOD that fucktard had to drop out). It's scary to know that after starting out strong they may be pussying out claiming that the "public" isn't for it, while poll after poll states otherwise. Meanwhile, pockets are still lined with insurance company money. Jesus.
And to make matters worse - he allows a department of Justice, including a Bush holdover - defend the Defense of Marriage act with arguments comparing gay marriage to incest and pedophila. Fucking insane. And after that, all he could do is a stupid memo to try to convince the federal goverment to give shreds of benefits to the cronies they would have to deal with day by day, gay federal workers. I have tons of shit going thru my head about that, and will surely pontificate later, but needless to say I'm furious at the second-rate treatment received, and disappointed that Obama isn't savvy (or, again, pussy) enough to at least make a "Philadelphia speech on race" type of speech about the need for gay rights that we desperately need. Do I think it's the most pressing issue in America today? Hell, no. However, the damage done by that legal brief warrants more than a passing glance by this administration. For more on this, Jon and Joe at Americablog.com are doing the best in following this, and it's worth reading their blog.
That's all for now.....more ranting later.
And again, thanks to anyone who's reading this blog, it does mean a lot.
