Songoftheday 12/14/17 - You want to take her place you say you'd treat me better, but better I know for sure you see she loves me...
"I Adore Mi Amor" - Color Me Badd
from the album C.M.B. (1991)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #1 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 14
Today's song of the day comes from the vocal group Color Me Badd, who had landed a huge R&B and pop hit with their salacious debut single "I Wanna Sex You Up" in the summer of 1991. They followed that success up with the smooth and slow "I Adore Mi Amor", which traded lead vocals amongst the four members of the group, with Mark Calderon singing his verses in Spanish. The mutlicultural love come-on was written by the quartet with producer Hamza Lee...
"I Adore Mi Amor" became Color Me Badd's first #1 pop hit single in the U.S. in September of 1991. The song also spent a week on top of Billboard's R&B chart, and was the group's first song to cross over to their Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") list at #38. Internationally, the record reached the top ten in Canada (#8) and New Zealand (#8), and hit the top 40 in the Netherlands (#11), Belgium (#25), and Australia (#27). It just missed that level in the UK (#44) and Germany (#44).
