Songoftheday 11/12/15 - Now I'm back to what I knew before you, somehow the city doesn't look the same...

"Endless Summer Nights" - Richard Marx
from the album Richard Marx (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #2 (two weeks)
Weeks in the Top-40: 15

Today's song of the day is by Richard Marx, whose self-titled debut album in 1987 had already produced two top-5 pop hits in the U.S. with "Don't Mean Nothing" and "Should've Known Better". The third single pulled from the record was the slow-paced "Endless Summer Nights", which actually was released in the cold of January (though in California, that's relative). Written by Marx as well as co-produced with Humberto Gatica, the song was another soft-rock nugget aimed for the ladies...

"Endless Summer Nights" became the third top-5 pop hit from Marx's debut set in March of 1988, while climbing to #2 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary (or "easy listening") chart. Internationally, the song made the top-20 in both Sweden (#13) and Australia (#16), though it stalled out at #50 in the UK.
