Brit Sweep: November 3, 2015...






It's time to catch up with the rest of the world as I return to normal, and run through the songs making their debut on the official singles chart in the UK that was released on Friday, as two massive recordings went head to head for #1....

...and thankfully, taste prevailed, as the biggest song in Britain belongs to Adele, whose "Hello" becomes her second single to reach the top in the UK (surprisingly, "Rolling In the Deep", "Chasing Pavements", and "Skyfall" all stopped in the runner-up spot). She sold over a quarter of a million "copies" in the first week, the biggest number since 2012...

The song that "Hello" beat is another one-worder, as "Sorry" by Justin Bieber ends up at #2. It's the second single from his upcoming Purpose album (which smartly arrives a week before Adele's 25 release)...


With those two battling it out, the next newbie doesn't come until down at #57, with another "preview track" from Ellie Goulding's forthcoming Delerium set, "Lost And Found". The current radio hit, "On My Mind", drops out of the top-10 to #16...


DJs Zhu and Skrillex team up at #71 with "Working For It" featuring They....


Newcomers WSTRN debut at #85 with "IN2"...


American modern rock act Panic! At The Disco return at #88 with "Emperor's New Clothes". It's the second from their January 2016 release Death Of A Batchelor album to make the chart; "Hallelujah" went to #81...


The final entry on the top 100 at #96 is One Direction with "Home", which will be on their Made In The AM album...
