Songoftheday 8/7/15 - How come you can't explain it the way you're acting recently? It seems that everything is changing 'cause I can tell the way you're treating me...

"Who  Found Who" - Jellybean featuring Elisa Fiorillo
from the album Just Visiting This Planet (1987)
Billboard Hot 100 peak: #16 (one week)
Weeks in the Top-40: 8

Today's SOTD comes from dance music remixer and producer John "Jellybean" Benitez, who had went from helping to jumpstart the career of Madonna to scoring his own pop hit in 1984 with the Madge-assisted "Sidewalk Talk". Three years later he released his second proper album Just Visiting This Planet,  a record chock full of club jams carrying on the bridge between freestyle and HI-NRG. The first single from the project, "Who Found Who", featured newcomer Elisa Fiorillo, a Philly native that got her big break appearing on Star Search in 1985...

"Who Found Who" became Jellybean's second and most recent top-40 pop hit in September of 1987, while climbing to #3 on Billboard's Dance Club Play chart. Internationally, the single was his most successful, going to #10 in the UK and #21 in Ireland.

Four club hits came from the album, with "The Real Thing" topping the dance chart, and all four reaching the top-20 in England. Another set the following year sent "Coming Back For More" to the American club top-10, while his 1991 album Spillin' The Beans featured the #2 club single "What's It Gonna Be" featuring Madonna back-up vocalist Niki Haris. Since then he's concentrated on DJ'ng and the business side of things.
